CREW FILES FOIA REQUESTS FOR DOCUMENTS REGARDING MURTHA-RELATED NON-PROFITS
19 Jun 2009 // Washington, D.C. - Today, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) sent Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, and the Department of the Interior seeking records related to non-profit organizations that have received millions of dollars in earmarks from Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) and Rep. Harold Rogers (R-KY). As CREW explained in its requests, these records will shed light on whether it is appropriate for these entities to have non-profit status, and the quality and value of work product these non-profits have provided to the federal government.
